Suffering from gout is not comfortable. Many people are not aware that Gout is a form of arthritis, and diet affects flare ups and attacks of this condition. There is a moderate consensus currently that foods rich in protein and purine that increase your uric acid levels in the blood will flare your gout.

Foods to Avoid

Here is a list of foods to remove from your diet if arthritic gout is a problem for you.

These foods above are extremely purine rich and minimal amounts consumed are very likely to trigger attacks of gout and should be removed from a diet of anyone with arthritis.

Hearts, yeast, sardines, sweetbreads, smelt, herring, and mussels.

These foods are somewhat high in purine, and can flare up gout if eaten in quantity.

Mutton, goose, haddock, veal, bacon, liver, salmon, turkey, kidneys, trout, anchovies, and scallops.

Other tips to follow to aid your diet and encourage less arthritis flare ups are; Exercise, lots of water intake, no alcohol intake, and maintain a high green leafy vegetable consumption in your diet. With all of these tools at your disposal you will see the light at the end of the tunnel and live a moderately gout free life free of pain.
