Do people from Okinawa Japan really have longer life span than the rest of us? And just how much trust should we put on the claims of Robert Barefoot?

coral calcium cures all types of diseases. So claims its discoverer, Robert Barefoot. TV infomercials, books, and web sites all scream this wonder drug. And even if his claims are preposterous, he has succeeded in getting a large share of audience. Why not? Who wouldn't want to know the single medicine that can take away all known diseases?

But not all that glitters is gold. And sometimes, even the most glib talkie can't get away with everything. The alleged healing powers of coral calcium have been the focus of many scientific studies. Experts in the field have found no evidence to support the claims made by Robert Barefoot.

coral calcium is said to be sourced out from ocean beds and are the remains of fallen corals. In layman's lingo, it is basically just derived from limestone. And limestone does not have any known curative properties.

coral calcium was supposedly derived from Okinawa Japan, with Robert Barefoot using the low mortality rate of the place as a back-up for his claims. True enough, Okinawans are among the people with the longest life span in the world. Their mortality rate due to diseases is almost nonexistent, but coral calcium and their drinking water have nothing to do with it. In fact, researchers found out that Okinawans have lesser calcium intake than those from the Western countries. Their "health and long lives" can be attributed to several factors, but never to coral calcium.

People who are in need of calcium supply are better off choosing from among the many calcium supplements available in the market. There are safer and more reliable brands that science never posted any warnings on.

coral calcium insists on being able to treat even the most-feared diseases known to mankind. It even suggests that most of these are caused by calcium deficiency. The latter has been proven by science to be totally untrue. Its being a magic potion for these diseases remains to be an ongoing battle.

If people were presented with something that is said to heal the likes of AIDS and cancer, they wouldn't care if it costs them a month's salary.

But we really couldn't blame people for believing this nonsense. If the people behind the distribution of coral calcium are just out to make money, their "fans" are merely looking for an easy way out of their health problems. Unfortunately, life wasn't meant to be that easy.
