Monthly disposable contact lenses can be worn up to 30 days before they need to be thrown away. Consistent and thorough cleaning is important due to the duration of their usage. Tear fluid contains protein and minerals that easily build up on the lens surface in the form of deposits if one neglects to clean the lens daily this increasing the risk of eye irritation and/or infection. Cleaning, disinfection and storage of monthly lenses are usually carried out with an all-purpose lens solution or a combination of a cleaning fluid and storage solution.

Monthly disposable contact lenses also come in color. The selection of monthly disposable contact lenses comes in options one to three month usage periods. You should be able to find the right type lens to fit your needs. These lenses usually have to be replaced within one to three months. Check with your eye doctor.

There are two ways to avoid just about all contact lens care. One is to sleep in your lenses and then replace your lenses periodically. Unfortunately sleeping in lenses is not a good idea for everybody and sleeping in contact lenses slightly increases your risk of eye problems. Even before the advent of disposable lenses it was well know that frequent lens replacement was a healthy thing to do. Problem was contacts were too expensive to discard very often so various cleaning solutions and devices were used to prolong the life of the lens.

The cost of being fitted with contact lenses varies widely. Cheap disposable contact lenses are more affordable than many people expect. Contact lens manufacturers developed new manufacturing methods to produce quality lenses in greater volume at lower cost.  These advances led to lower lens prices making it affordable to replace lenses more often.
