Cause And Effect: Type I Diabetes Cause

There are a variety of reasons as to why an individual may be afflicted with a disease. Some of those reasons could include an indulgence in a particular lifestyle. For example, if the individual smokes they may be afflicted with lung cancer. Or if an individual over eats they may in turn become obese which may lead to a stroke or a heart condition.

In addition to lifestyle choices causing various types of disorders, there is another factor that may lead to a disease within the body. That particular factor is genetics. Examples of genetic caused diseases could be the appearance of cystic fibrosis, Alzheimer's or even alcoholism can be traced to a person's genetic makeup.

One additional disease that can be caused by genetics and lifestyle choices is diabetes. Specifically one form of diabetes that may be caused by these factors is type 1 diabetes.

Therefore, if concerned about type 1 diabetes as a potential possibility in one's life or in the life of a family member it is important to know what type 1 diabetes is and what are some type 1 diabetes causes.

What Is Type 1 Diabetes?

Type 1 diabetes is a disease of the pancreas which prohibits the proper functioning of this organ. That specific function of the pancreas is to manufacture and secrete insulin into the bloodstream. This action in turn helps to process the sugar that the individual ingests. Subsequently, this process generates energy so that the body can function.

Additionally, type 1 diabetes is sometimes labeled as juvenile diabetes. That is because this disease normally affects small children and adolscents.

Potential Type 1 Diabetes Causes

First of all, it is important to note that before talking about type 1 diabetes causes it is important to be aware of the fact that there is no cure for diabetes.

Also, to meet the challenges of a non-functioning pancreas it is important to know that treatment for type 1 diabetes is a lifetime process. Generally, that process includes the injection of insulin and a supplemental action plan. That action plans includes the eating of a proper diet, adherence to an exercise plan, the protection of the diabetic from illnesses and the use of prescripton medication.

Therefore, knowing these specifics about type 1 diabetes it is important to know about possible type 1 diabetes causes. Specifically, the two possible type 1 diabetes causes include genetics and viruses.

That is because an individual's non-functioning pancreas can be as a result of one's genetic makeup. These genes are received from an individual's parents and if there is a medical history of diabetes in the family tree, then the resulting genetic makeup may create type 1 diabetes.

In addition, another possible type 1 diabetes cause may be due to viruses. This destruction by viruses, due to a child's weakened immune system, may attack the pancreatic cells which may ultimately lead to the inability of the pancreas to produce insulin.
