A Strange Question: Can A Man Get Pregnant?

Lately with what's been going on a new question that a lot of people have is can a man get pregnant? Recently there was a show on the world's first pregnant man it sparked controversy around the world. This question sparked controversy after a show on the Oprah Winfrey show which was based around the world's first pregnant man. It's a little complicated though because this wasn't actually a man that was pregnant.


How it worked was that Thomas was not actually a man to begin with. So she started on hormone therapy and eventually began to look like a man, which was when she changed her name. He then met his wife Nancy and eventually they decided together that they wanted to have children. Together they decided that they wanted to have a child.


Because he still had the reproductive organs of his woman self, even though he now looked on the outside as a man he was able to bear children. So it's not true that a man can get pregnant, only in this case it is considered to be that because Thomas now considers himself as a man. This was one of the most talked about shows Oprah has ever does and it started a great deal of controversy. This show sparked great debate and there were people all over the world who had an opinion to give.


A lot of people felt as though this would just be too much for a child to handle. Female reproductive organs are required to actually develop the baby in the uterus and give birth to the baby. It's pretty amazing the amount of options that are available to people who want to have children. Even if both people in the partnership have fertility problems, there are some great routes that are available to them.


Then there are also surrogates who can bear the child for a couple if they're unable to do it on their own. There are also surrogates which are often used and which are useful in cases where the woman is not able to get pregnant or may get pregnant but then lose the child. These are women who will actually bear a child for a couple using the woman in that couple's egg and the man's sperm. That way it's still actually the couple's baby but they are using the body of another to bear it because the woman may not be able to on her own.
