Rid Head Lice With A Medicine Known As Pediculicide

If you have got a head full of lice, your primary concern would be to get rid of the head lice so that not only can you get your personal hygiene sorted out, but also ensure that you do not end up spreading the infestation to other members of your family. The best way of course when you want to rid yourself of head lice is to purchase hair conditioners and shampoos that can be bought over the counter and which only target treating head lice.

Shampoos With Pesticides

Before you even start handing out shampoos to other members of your family as a preventive measure, it would be far better to use the shampoo on your own scalp since it is more important to treat the infested head rather than those who are only at risk of becoming infested. The most common shampoos used for killing lice contain pesticides, which means that you don’t want others to use such shampoos unless absolutely necessary.

In order to get rid of head lice, you should first of all use chemicals or medicines that will treat your head. The most commonly used medicine contains pediculicide, just be sure to use exactly as directed by the instructions given on the medicine’s label. What’s more, if you have long hair, it may be necessary to use a second application. It is recommended that you do not use any shampoo for at least two or three days after the application.

Having begun the process to rid your hair of head lice, you then need to ensure that you periodically closely examine your scalp and hair and even though there are a few tiny lice moving about, there is no need to apply any more pediculicide. Instead you should try and comb out the dead lice as well as use a special comb to eliminate nits at the same time.

Sometimes, this medicine can take a bit longer to get rid of head lice than you expected and in some cases you still see lice moving about. This may mean that the particular brand of medicine that you have tried is not effective and thus an alternative solution will have to be tried out. In any case, it pays to regularly check your hair every couple of days and to also use a nit comb in order to completely rid yourself of head lice. If you do this for a few weeks, you can expect to achieve success in getting rid of head lice. Though this is simple when applied on one person, treating entire households is a bit more difficult.

To completely get rid of head lice may also require that you try checking out a handful of different solutions that are available in most drug stores and it may also require a certain amount of performing trial and error runs, before a proper solution can be found.

Some people have even been able to get rid of head lice by using combs and brushes and soaking them in alcohol. However, using bug bombs is not recommended since there is always the risk of toxicity affecting those who may accidentally inhale it and this may even harm your pets as well.
