Common Morning Headache Causes

A morning headache is one that occurs as soon as the person wakes up in the morning. Waking up with a headache can really make it hard to stay positive or to even get ready for the day. If you know the common causes for morning headaches, it will make it that much easier to prevent these headaches and to deal with them when they happen. This way, you can start your day in a good and not painful place. The following are some of the common morning headache causes.

Colds

One of the most common morning headache causes is a cold, attack of one's allergies, or a sinus infection. In these circumstances, your head may be a symptom of such things or may be aching because your body is trying to fight off these things. Taking cold or allergy medicine before bed and right when you wake up can help you combat this morning headache before it gets out of control and ruins your day.

Dehydration

Another common morning headache cause is dehydration. This can happen for a number of reasons. You may not be drinking enough water throughout the day and this may affect you overnight so that you wake up in pain. Additionally, if you drink a lot of caffeine or alcohol, your body will become that much more dehydrated, especially if you do not up your water intake. Thus, drinking a lot of coffee or beer the day before can cause a morning headache.

Sleeping Posture

Another morning headache cause is the way you sleep at night. This will vary from person to person. Some people who sleep on their stomachs may wake with morning headaches and those who sleep on their side may develop this too. If you wake up in the morning with headaches, you should try your best to change how you sleep. This could definitely help you get rid of morning headaches or can at least make them less frequent.

Tired

Another morning headache cause is if you have been working out a lot of experienced a lot of physical overexertion. These things can really alter how the body functions and can change how you sleep. Thus, if you have been physically overexerted or are trying out a new workout routine, it pays to drink a glass of water before sleep and to even take a painkiller. This can help you so that you do not wake up with a morning headache.
