Some of them are recommended by the doctors while others are only theoretically proven.

The facts below will help you know more about migraine. However, it is essential to remember that the diagnosis of migraine is not for you to decide. It is always the doctor who can tell which type of headache you are having. The facts below will only help you understand the nature of migraine and know more about the condition.

Migraine Headache – The Types

Migraine headache, like the other types of headache, have certain sub classifications, namely: the common migraine head pains, the classic migraine headaches, and the status migrainosus. The three do not differ that much from each other; in fact, they have the same accompanying signs and symptoms. Perhaps the only difference among them would be the aura and the degree at which the pain attacks.

For example, the common type of migraine usually appears without an aura and is typically non-severe in type. The second migraine type, classic, shows with an aura and is usually more severe than the previous kind of migraine. The last type, status migrainosus, is by far the most different among the three. This is because this type of migraine headache does not disappear on its own. It lasts for more than 72 hours and is definitely very disturbing to the person who experiences it.

Migraine Headache – The Trigger Factors

If you have migraine headache and you want to avoid any attacks related with it, then you need to know the trigger factors which cause your migraine to attack. For example, eating foods like chocolate and nuts can easily set off your migraine attacks. You also have to watch out for some other factors like bright lights, perfume, caffeine, loud noises, and a lot more. Reading more about migraine and its causes can help you avoid the other trigger factors to migraine attacks.

Migraine Headache – How It Is Diagnosed

The diagnosis of migraine headache is usually done symptomatically. This means that the doctor has to assess you for some symptoms; and if they are present in you for a certain period of time, the doctor may diagnose you with migraine headache. Other diagnostic procedures can be a MRI or a CT scan. However, the two are not usually used in the diagnosis of the condition. More often than not, the doctor would use the "symptom chart" to tell if you are really having the migraine type of headache.
