The Difficulty Of Dealing With Baby Heartburn

Babies often have a lot of different health conditions that need to be treated but heartburn is certainly one of the worst. Baby heartburn is very common and over fifty percent of all babies deal with at least some form of heartburn. Parents needn't worry if their little one has heartburn but they should try and offer the child relief of their heartburn in the best way. A baby's stomach is very sensitive and can react badly to the seemingly simplest things.

It is first important to know how to watch for the symptoms of baby heartburn. It is important to have an eye out for the symptoms of baby heartburn and these are typically the same as those in an adult. Regurgitation and a burning sensation in the chest are the two most commonly experienced symptoms. Of course it can often be hard to tell what is wrong with the baby because at this age they are not able to talk and explain what it is that is bothering them.

The most obvious sign that a parent will notice if their baby has heartburn is that the baby will show discomfort and probably cry a lot as well. Taking the child into a doctor will be important because they can talk with the doctor and a proper assessment will be made on the child. Doctors can then explain the condition more to parents and make sure that they are at ease and not overly worried about the baby. Baby heartburn is usually very easy to treat but of course the regular treatments that adults with heartburn rely on cannot be used on babies.

Once the baby heartburn is diagnosed and assessed, proper treatment should be found. It is important to always be safe when treating baby heartburn but fortunately there are a few treatments that are not only effective but gentle on baby's stomach as well. Lifestyle changes are the best bet in most cases. This includes changing around the feeding times for one so that baby is not eating so close to bedtime.

Keeping the child's head elevated at night will also help. Some children are lactose intolerant and this could be what is causing their baby heartburn if they are on cow's milk already. Smoking around baby can also cause heartburn as well as a number of other health problems and so of course this should be avoided. These are all great tips that can help parents to offer relief to their baby if they are dealing with any heartburn.
