Causes, Symptoms And Treatment For Bird Flu

Treatment for bird flu is one of the more pressing matters that the World Health Organization is looking into. Bird flu is a viral condition that people get from being constantly exposed to birds that are sick with the flu. Although, this virus is supposedly only limited to avian, some humans who are constantly exposed to it have contracted the flu and manifested symptoms of it. Treatment for bird flu is necessary because there have been some deaths from this viral infection.

Originally, this virus came from regions in Asia that are focused on an agricultural livelihood. The virus spread to other countries in Asia due to migratory birds and also to some travelers who have contracted bird flu from countries with this virus. The treatment for bird flu has become a pressing matter for many Asian countries exposed to this virus. So far, the virus has been controlled although the World Health Organization expects an outbreak if no treatment for bird flu is developed or discovered. Flu home treatment for the ordinary flu may have some impact on bird flu but authorities and medical experts prefer more conclusive studies regarding treatment for bird flu.

Symptoms Of Bird Flu

The common signs or symptoms of bird flu are coughing, muscular aches, fever and a sore throat. These symptoms can also be symptoms of other conditions, which is one of the reasons why bird flu is difficult to diagnose in its early stages. Conjunctivitis is another sign that you may have bird flu. The more severe symptoms of the virus are viral pneumonia and acute respiratory distress, which is one of the primary causes of death to people with the virus. Acute respiratory distress may not react positively to any treatment for bird flu once it is already well established.

Treatment For Bird Flu In Humans

Treatment for bird flu has developed in the form of antiviral drugs, namely, Oseltamivir and Zanamivir. These actually attack the viruses responsible for the infection, which is a good thing. The only problem is that viruses tend to mutate into strains that may be resistant to medications. The infected person should take any of the two drug treatments for bird flu within two days of the appearance of the signs and symptoms of bird flu. Flu home treatment methods that may seem effective for other kinds of flu may not work the same way with the bird flu. The only drug treatments for bird flu that have shown promise are Oseltamivir and Zanamivir.
