Can A Woman Prepare For 'The Change' Ahead Of Time?

Women today should be encouraged even before menopause hits and afterwards to take better care of themselves and their bodies. This awareness will help improve their overall physical wellness as well as help them spiritually, mentally, and emotionally. During menopause there are so many hormonal fluctuations that can cause a varying amount of symptoms that can be highly irritating and most of all prevented or fixed. It is common for woman to experience and array of abnormal vaginal bleeding, hot flashes, and other hormone influenced side effects from the decreasing levels of estrogen in the body. There is no set schedule to when these symptoms will begin or end, or how they will affect each woman individually.

Some women will experience symptoms for over a decade of their lives while others will not have any at all or get them for a very brief time. Hormone or estrogen/progesterone replacement therapy taken orally, applied topically, or in other ways may be prescribed by a doctor that can be helpful to some woman in preventing or alleviating some of the more annoying side affects of losing estrogen. Implementing such changes in your life style will help prevent such menopause related complications such as osteoporosis, heart disease, and other menopausal related illnesses.

It is very common for woman who are entering the menopausal stage of life to feel blue or depressed. There are so many mixed emotions and the lack of proper hormones that influences this change. Your emotion fragileness at this time can affect your self-esteem in many ways. Because of the deficiency in your hormones you will find that sleeping is difficult and erratic sometimes at best. This can cause irritability, confusion, angry outbursts, sadness, crying, and relational problems. Make sure you are well versed about what is going on with your body and how these symptoms can be thwarted. Keep a daily journal of what symptoms you are featuring so that you can bring these to your doctor's attention. Knowing exactly what symptoms and signs you have and do not have can help you and your doctor find a treatment regime that best accommodates your needs as an individual. Be determined to take better care of yourself so you can move forward with simplicity through this new phase of life. Menopause does not have to be the end of life; in fact it is a renewed beginning for many woman. There is no way to stop yourself from entering into menopause nor is it a disease. It is just another phase of life that is completely natural and can be great if you are prepared emotionally, physically, and spiritually for it. These strategies can help build your transition into menopause and your postmenopausal years healthy and happier than you ever dreamed:

Be prepared for how and why your body will change

Be informed about health issues after age 50

Develop a well thought out plan that includes regular health screenings, exercise, and healthy diet

Avoid smoking, excess weight, and moderate alcohol consumption. These measures will serve to improve your cardiovascular health and decrease your risk for osteoporosis, which is very common in menopausal women.
