Although mold allergy are generally mild and well tolerated by most people, some people do suffer from severe mold allergy symptoms than can be life threatening. Severe allergy symptoms sometimes appear without warning and if the person who is suffering from this condition does not get immediate medical help, he or she may not survive the attack. If you happen to be one of those people who are prone to severe mold allergies, you should learn to identify allergy triggers and do your best to avoid them. Below are some of the most common mold allergy triggers that you should try to avoid.

Allergy Triggers At The Workplace

If you are allergic to mold, you should try to avoid jobs that may expose you to mold. Farming, baking, logging, winemaking, carpentry and the likes make expose you to mold and continued exposure to mold at work may worsen your symptoms. For health reasons, try not to engage in these types of jobs. There are other interesting jobs that do not expose your continuously to mold. On the other hand, if you insist on working in environments that expose you to molds, you should learn to take precautions and protect yourself from mold allergies. For instance, when baking or making wine, you should wear protective mask and goggles. Wearing protective mask and goggles will prevent mold spores from entering your system; thus, lessen the likelihood of mold allergies.

After work, you should also change your clothes immediately and make sure that you take a shower to get rid of mold spores that may have come in contact with your skin and hair. Put your work clothes into the washing machine immediately after use. If you cannot wash your soiled work clothes immediately after getting old work, keep your soiled work clothes inside a sealed plastic bag. This way, you can ensure minimal contract with whatever mold spores may have clung to your work clothes.

Allergy Triggers At Home

Mold love to live in humid places. Given the right conditions, mold can thrive just about anywhere including your home. If your home is humid, you are more likely to suffer from mold allergy. To reduce mold allergy risk, live in a well lighted and ventilated home. Molds are less likely to thrive in areas which are exposed to the sun and light. You should also make sure that your home is dry. Remember that molds love damp places.
