Survivors Of Prostate Cancer

Survivors of Prostate Cancer

Prostate cancer has become the greatest adversity of the modern man. That is because most survivors of prostate cancer surgery are irrevocably changed, even if the survivability incidence of the medical practice is relatively high. The symptoms, the waning sexual function is the biggest distress any survivors of prostate cancer encounters.

Except in the later full blown stages, prostate cancer is not seen as lethal. Instead it is the treatment and the later stage of life, the quality of life on post operation curbs sharply downward. And that is why some men surprisingly chose to live and die with the disease than have to live as survivors of prostate cancer. To these men, the patient trade-off is just too damaging than what the disease could account for.

There are those, however, that despite the losing of ones sexual inclination, still continue to live fuller lives. And you know them; they're always in front of your eyes. Here are the survivors of prostate cancer, those that lived lives.

Robert De Niro was diagnosed with prostate cancer last 2003. Though he was very secretive on his medical treatment, many believe he had undergone prostatectomy. After a year, he remarried Grace Hightower, his second wife and lived in the upstate New York.

On the same year as Robert De Niro, 2003, John Kerry underwent a PSA test where a prostate cancer was detected. Because of a timely detection, John Kerry had made a full recovery. The year later, he actively ran as the Bush's opposition for presidential campaign

Colin Powel also underwent prostate cancer surgery in 2003 which he also made a full recovery. And up to this date, he was still very active within the American political circles.

Actor and musician Harry Belafonte was diagnosed with prostate cancer last 1996. But that didn't deter the humanitarian activist to star in a couple of movies and television shows including Kansas City and Swing Vote and Bobby. As well as being a major pin prick for President George Bush.

Any gentlemen would know Arnold Palmer. He is the best known American golfer (before Tiger Woods entered the golf scene) who won several golf tours. He was golf's most popular star and was diagnosed with prostate cancer last 1997. And eight weeks after having surgery, he went back to the green. And a year later, he was inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame and won the PGA Lifetime Achievement Award.

You see, surviving prostate cancer don't necessarily mean miserable lifetime afterwards. These survivors of prostate cancer tell a different story than what is generally known. And they tell it brightly.

Yes, the sexual aspect of a relationship plays one big part, but still there are other parts to be played. You don't have to be sexually active to be happy, and there are always other sources for happiness and fulfillment.
