Prostate cancer is one disease already getting the due attention from men. It has different stages that one affected with such, may be classified. The data gathered will be used to determine the specific stage of prostate cancer one may be in, and so will the treatment depend on the results. If the cancer has already spread, one may have metastatic prostate cancer.

Metastatic prostate cancer is one that has spread and reached the lymph nodes & other parts of the body. Symptoms for this type include weight loss, bone pain and swelling in the lower extremities. One should also take note that metastatic prostate cancer may not create symptoms for the individual affected.

Bone scans may be able to discover metastatic prostate cancer that reaches the bones. CT (Computed Tomography) scans, and MRIs (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) may also be used for the purpose of determining the extent of the cancer spread.

Metastatic prostate cancer treatment concentrates on giving remedy to the symptoms experienced by the patient, at the same time slowing down the process of cancer spread. Such treatments for metastatic prostate cancer are radiation therapy, surgery, hormone therapy and chemotherapy. These treatments will at least try to contain the cancer cells from contaminating other areas, and hope the patient will live longer.

Appropriate treatments for metastatic prostate cancer will depend on how severe the tumor is, its spread, previous treatments already administered and the current state of physical conditioning.

One with metastatic prostate cancer will also have to ensure he is not taking his overall health for granted, with more attention placed on his prostate condition. Others will also try to put in supplementations as approved by one’s nutritionist - that are known to help provide for a healthy prostate.

Eating natural and healthy foods are best. Combining it with a regular exercise routine and getting plenty of rest will help your case. Not being stressed and being able to relax are also keys to keep your hormones in normal levels. Less strenuous exercises as tai chi and walking will relax your body at the same time giving you a good workout for general conditioning. All these will help in your fight against metastatic prostate cancer.
