Baby Skin Care For Cradle Cap

Cradle cap is a disease that generally affects babies. This kind of condition requires special baby skin care treatment and method to make sure that the condition goes away and is taken care of properly. The condition is known scientifically as infantile seborrhoeic dermatitis and affects the scalp of the baby although it can also appear anywhere else in the body. When this kind of dermatitis appears anywhere else other than the scalp it is known simply as seborrhoeic dermatitis. As cradle cap, baby skin care may also be necessary for the eyebrows and ear area of the affected baby.

This scalp condition often occurs to newborns up to about six months of age but there have been cases when it appears on older babies. Baby skin care for babies of any age with cradle cap is basically similar with each age group. This is a common problem and treatment is quite easy and often times quite effective for many. There are individual babies who do not react as well as others, these needs to be monitored regarding this kind of baby skin care.

Treating Cradle Cap

Baby skin care for babies with cradle cap is just the same anywhere else in the body. This condition manifests itself on the scalp, eyebrows and ear areas as yellowish, crusty, scaly and sometimes greasy patches of skin on the head of the child. Baby skin care is not actually necessary for the comfort of the baby because this condition rarely bothers the child. Baby skin care is necessary for the well being of the child, though, because cradle cap which is unattended may develop into something else.

Treating cradle cap may not be necessary as this condition eventually goes away. It does react positively to aloe vera gel and tea tree oil topical applications. Baby skin care tips for cradle cap also suggests not using strong baby skin care products on the condition as these may worsen it. Instead, the application and massage of borage oil has been found to effectively ease the occurrence of cradle cap. Other herbal concoctions for baby skin care and well being that may help to dislodge the scales are applying baking soda paste on the affected area and then combing out the scales, having burdock root washes and chamomile washes.

Babies are actually quite resilient little mites and the occurrence of this scalp condition is not something to worry about.
