Sleep soundly, UK - The BSSAA

Snoring is considered a serious problem in the UK so that in 1991, the British Snoring and Sleep Apnea Association was formed to provide help to 30 million people in the UK attain a restful night with their partners. The BSSAA recognized the need for such organization in response to recent studies regarding the serious health problems that snorers and people with sleep apnea are at risk of.

The aim of the British Snoring and Sleep Apnea Association is to propagate information and instill awareness among the public regarding the health risks of sleep apnea and snoring. The association also sells a variety of anti snoring products that are designed for each type of obstruction to the airflow that contributes to snoring.

The British Snoring and Sleep Apnea Association has also conducted researches into all aspects of sleep apnea and snoring. The medical community around as well as the review journals the UK has also been presented with research papers by the BSSAA. The BSSAA was able to present one of their surveys titled "Snoring and Sexual Relationships" to the Royal Society of Medicine in 2005 and at the British Sleep Society Annual Conference.

The British Snoring and Sleep Apnea Association works with medical practitioners to continue in developing their expertise in treating snoring and sleep apnea. The BSSAA conducts study days and conferences with their medical colleagues like the Royal Society of Medicine, The British Sleep Society, the British Thoracic Society, along with other health professionals in order to exchange information and conduct dialogues.

The British Snoring and Sleep Apnea Association, in their efforts to meet their objectives, formed the Sleep Alliance in 2004, along with other organizations and charities. The purpose of the alliance is to lobby to the Parliament to provide exemplary facilities for the treatment of sleep disorders like sleep apnea.

The association maintains their high-profile stance in the media. Their directors have appeared in many TV shows in the UK along with celebrities like Gloria Hunniford, Carol Vordeman, Robert Kilroy, Richard and Judy, This Morning, and Matthew Kelly. In addition to their TV appearances, the BSSAA was instrumental in giving assistance to the making of some TV programs in the UK such as Solution Street with host Gabby Rosalind, as well as the show Inside Out of the BBC. The British Snoring and Sleep Apnea Association was also able to make the 6 O'clock news on ITV and BBC television.
