Some pregnant women also develop varicose veins especially during the second and third trimester of their pregnancy. Signs And Symptoms Of Varicose Veins

The most common signs and symptoms of varicose veins is the visibility of enlarged veins on your skin. At first, the veins will appear to be faint but as the disorder progresses, the enlarged veins will start to protrude from the skin giving the appearance of ugly purple bumps. Aside from the ugly purple bumps on your skin, you may experience some mild swelling in your ankles and feet especially if the varicose veins are located in these areas. As the disorder progresses, your ankles and feet may become very painful and your legs will feel heavy.

For some people, itching and discoloration on the areas affected by the disorder may happen. As the varicose veins grow, throbbing and cramping on the legs may also happen. If you happen to experience these types of symptoms, you should go see you doctor immediately for correct diagnosis. As much as possible, do not attempt to self medicate. A lot of people have suffered from serious side effects after administering the wrong medicate without the knowledge of their physicians. Note that itchiness and cramps can also be associated with other types of muscular and skin diseases so you should see your doctor just to make sure that your symptoms are not due to some other more serious conditions.

Are Varicose Veins Dangerous?

Technically, varicose veins are not dangerous in themselves. However, some people do develop complications along the way which can make matters worst. To make sure that you do not suffer from any complications due to varicose veins, you should seek treatment as early as possible. Do not take chances when it comes to your health. Remember that poor health can lead to a lot of problems in the future so make sure that you take good care of yourself.
