One should also try to elevate the right legs while sleeping during the first trimester as a means of preventing varicose veins during pregnancy. Elevation for pregnant and non pregnant women works wonders for those who want to get rid of varicose veins and for preventing varicose veins during pregnancy.

Support

Another way of preventing varicose veins during pregnancy is to wear hosiery or undergarments that provide additional or special support for the legs and for the stomach. These special garments can help to alleviate the pressure that one feels with the additional weight of the unborn baby. Graduated compression stockings help the veins function normally even under the added pressure of additional weight. These forms of support for the legs can help in preventing varicose veins during pregnancy.

Preventing varicose veins during pregnancy may seem tiresome but the results are certainly worth being ache free when the time comes. It is also worth not having varicose veins after pregnancy.
