A vitamin deficiency is nothing to sneeze at. Not only can such a condition make you feel weak and tired, but it can be a sign of much more serious conditions. Vitamin D deficiency is most commonly the result of some serious medical conditions: osteomalacia and rickets. Thus, you need to be on the look our for a vitamin deficiency so that you can treat it as soon as possible. If you do not confront this issue, you could really do harm to your body. The following are some of the most commonly found symptoms of vitamin D deficiency.

Osteomalacia

One of the most common symptoms of a vitamin D deficiency in adults is osteomalacia. This is a serious condition, especially for older adults. The bones themselves become weakened. Thus, a person may experience severe pain, but they may also be more prone to breaking bones. Breaking bones is no big deal if the bones are healthy, but if they are weakened, it can prove debilitation. The condition makes it that much harder for the body to heal or rebuild the bones. In fact, some adults with a vitamin D deficiency and osteomalacia may never fully recover and could end up in a hospital or crippled from a severe fall and break. Additionally, folks with these conditions may feel all-around weak: everything from driving to walking to the mailbox can be a struggle. Thus, a vitamin D deficiency and osteomalacia can make life incredibly difficult.

Rickets

Rickets is the most common symptom of a vitamin D deficiency in children. This condition is incredibly dangerous because it means that the bones have softened. For a growing child, this can stop growth and make the bones fragile. Thus, a playground fall to a child with rickets can quickly result in a fracture or worse. A child with rickets and with a vitamin D deficiency will show signs of this: they may have bowed legs or have a strange posture. Additionally, they may experience pain or tenderness of the bones. the condition can leave irreversible bone damage and affect everything from one's posture to their height and mobility.

Other Symptoms

Other symptoms of a vitamin D deficiency include insomnia, diarrhea, constipation, and weakness. As a result, folks with this condition may have a hard time with work and even with things like driving. Additionally, many folks who have a vitamin D deficiency also experience a burning feeling in their mouth or in their throat and may have issues with their appetite.
