One additional hobby an individual or family may wish to participate in is the hobby of bird watching. This can be extremely interesting and educational for both the young and old alike.

Therefore, if considering this hobby of bird watching it is important to understand the ins and outs of bird watching and ways that bird watching can be combined with other processes to make it even more interesting. Such a process is through a bird watching game.

What Is Bird Watching?

Bird watching can be an excellent pastime or hobby that all members of the family can enjoy. This is because it is not only a fun thing to do as birds congregate near the bird feeder, but can be an educational opportunity for the family to talk about wildlife and birds in particular. In addition, the educational aspect of bird watching can be the instructional opportunities to teach the family members about interaction with the ecosystem and sharing the planet with other animals.

In addition, bird watching is an inexpensive hobby to be involved with. This is because all that is generally needed is a bird feeder filled with various types of bird seed. In addition, a hummingbird feeder can be placed near the home that contains the proper amount of sugar to water in the feeder.

Additionally, in order to enjoy bird watching it is important to have a reference book. This bird identification reference book can be obtained from a number of sources. Specifically those sources could be the public library, the Audubon Society, through the Internet, etc. One such example of a bird identification reference book would be Sibley Guide To Birds.

Options For A Bird Watching Game

One other possibility of enhancing the bird watching experience for the family is to make a game out of the bird watching experience. In fact there is on the market a bird watching game that is available to consumers. An example of this type of game is called the bird watching trivia game.

Or, if the individual or family chooses, a made-up bird watching game can be utilized. For example a bird watching game can consist of awarding points for the family member who first sees the bird that the family is on the lookout for. If for example, a cardinal is the bird that is being watched for, the first family member to see the cardinal would be awarded 10 points. In addition, if the family member can name any significant characteristic about the cardinal they are awarded bonus points.

This process can be a competition and completed when a set number of points are achieved. When that total is achieved then the individual is proclaimed the winner and is awarded a prize or other significant token of their winning the game.
