General photographers are most commonly the ones who own their own business and work from home. Freelancers generally have more flexible schedules, but cannot rely on a steady paycheck like staff photographers. Most commercial photographers specialize in a specific area, such as food or exterior architecture.

Advertising photographers will help a company to advertise. They will find a hard time breaking into this part of the job field, but they will also be able to get high rates of exposure when they do hit into the market. They will have their name in magazines, TV shows, and even billboards. They may also be about to get their name in other media channels. When it comes to advertising, it is very difficult for anyone to get into the field. You will have to learn how to climb the corporate ladder to find the success that you are looking for.
