Ideas to Make a Kids Costume

If you want to save yourself some money this year and get more involved with your kids costume, why not make it yourself? There are lots of kids costume ideas that are going to be easy and affordable to make, such as a kids cat costume, kids bluebird costume, and more. Shown here will be just a couple of ideas to help get you started and show you how simple it can be.

Bluebird

Let's start with the bluebird kids costume. For it you will need ark green face paint, blue face paint, makeup brush and sponge, hat or headband, craft feathers, and hot glue. To start you use the green paint to draw around the eyes, just lining the lower eyelids thickly. Then you use it to paint the beak as well, and color the rest of the face in blue.

Make sure that they are dressed in a blue outfit to match the face, and then you want to work on the headband which is going to be their features. For this kids costume you want to make the feathered cap by gluing craft feathers onto the headband. Make sure that you wait until the glue is completely cool, and then you can try it on their head. They will look great, just like a dashing bluebird.

Scarecrow

This is a classic kids costume, one that you definitely have to try out on your child at least once. It is very simple to make, and the materials that you will need are 2 pairs black toddler socks, fiberfill batting, black feathers, needle and thread or fabric glue, yellow construction paper, googly eyes, yellow pipe cleaners, canvas or straw hat, 1 sheet beige, yellow and brown craft foam, large calico fabric patches, denim overalls, safety pins, yellow turtleneck, striped socks, plaid shirt, work gloves, work boots, and self-adhesive Velcro squares.

Now to make this kids costume you just make the crows, and then you want to get them dressed in the overalls and then you want to make a beak out of construction paper and glue the fold of it and the googly eyes onto another piece of construction paper.

Then to make the straw you want to cut three 4-inch-wide strips out of the beige craft foam, two that are long enough to fit around your child's wrists, and one that is going to fit comfortably around their neck. Of course you want to make sure that it is not going to be too tight or it will be choking them.
