Making Your Own Pet Halloween Costume

If you can make a Halloween outfit for your child, you can certainly make a pet Halloween costume. Sure you can head out to a department store and buy your pet Halloween costume, but why not save yourself a few bucks and make one yourself? It is very easy to do, and here are a few great ideas to help you get started.

Ladybug

It will be very simple to make this pet Halloween costume for your dog. All you need is some red construction paper, and then you want to use a black permanent marker to draw on some big polka dots. Once you have done this, you wrap it around the backside of your dog so that the sides of the paper are meeting at the bottom, underneath their belly.

Then you tape this together make sure that you do not use staples or hot glue or anything else that could hurt your dog. Now you want to top off the look with a pair of cute antennas. Just use some pipecleaners, and hot glue gun them to a child's headband. Voila! They are now a ladybug and ready to hit the town, whether you are just keeping them in to hand out candy with you or taking them along with the kids to go trick or treating.

Ghost

If you really want to take the easy way out, dress your pet up as a ghost. All you need is an old white sheet, and cut out holes so they can see where they are going. This is probably one of the easiest Halloween costumes of all time that you can make.

Hot Dog

To make this hot dog pet costume, all you want to do is get a big brown pillow or stuffed bag, and then cut a hole in the middle of it. You want to make sure that your dog's body is going to fit just right in it, not too big or too small. Most of all you do not want the costume to keep falling off because this can be a nuisance.

Now, laying it on a table or other flat surface, you want to use some yellow and red paint so you can squirt on mustard and ketchup to finish off the look.

Any pet Halloween costume mentioned here will go over well, but be creative and come up with other ideas as well. There is almost no pet Halloween costume that you would not be able to easily make yourself in very little time, so have fun with it.
