Kids Face Painting 101

One of the best activities introduced in the recent years is face painting. It is very much visible in almost all children's parties, carnivals, and festivals. Both kids and their parents will surely enjoy this activity. Even kids could do face painting by themselves since it is very basic to do and they could either try painting each other's faces or just choose the designs they want. Basic face painting for kids involves showing them the ropes, explaining the techniques and guiding them. If the kids will be the one to do the face painting this is applicable. You will need the basic face painting supplies if you'll be the one to do the face painting for the kids.

Initially, you have to look for various face painting designs. You can search online for designs and you will find quite a handful. Choose a design for girls and for boys. Organize your designs in a clear book with the designs for boys and girls separate from each other. There are also face painting books you can find in various crafts and bookstores in your area. These designs will serve as pattern for the artist. Be sure the designs can be done so do not choose very complicated ones.

Afterwards, pick the paints you will be using. There are many brands of face paint available now in the market and choosing the right colors is very important. Available paints are metallic, plain colors and those with glitters. You can choose one type of combine all of them. Bring your designs when going paint shopping so you’ll know what colors you’ll need the most. Make sure to check the label of the face paint you're buying to make sure that it's water-based. Face painting marker could also be purchases in the store. You can use the marker to make the outline on the face. If you're not comfortable with brushes or sponges, this would help make the process easier.

Finally, make sure to purchase brushes and sponges. Remember to get the different sizes of brushes just to be sure you can create the designs. You can use sponged to color large portions of the face. Invest in good quality brushes if you are keen on doing face painting more than once.

If the kids think they could do the designs by themselves, they could actually do the face painting by themselves. Have the kids play around with each other's faces. They can also paint on the faces of their parents so everyone can enjoy face painting. If they ask you to step in, do so and show them how it is done. Just by simply watching the kids paint, you might be able to discover the future artists.
