If you are starting with wedding videography as a business or as a hobby, the major consideration that you should put in mind is the equipment you need.

Major considerations in buying video digital camera

If you are an amateur and you would want to experience the convenience offered by digital video cameras, you should be very meticulous about its features. In buying a digital video camera, there are so many factors that you need to consider. In fact, these specifications can greatly affect your budding career as a wedding videographer.

The first major consideration is the megapixel. The question you should be asking yourself when it comes to this is, "how many megapixels do I really need?" Technically, megapixel mean one million pixels. Today, megapixel is commonly used in reference to digital cameras as an indication of resolution capability. Common digital video camera lenses can be categorized into four that include Fixed-focal-length lenses, Retractable zoom lenses, Fixed zoom lenses, and Interchangeable lenses.

Other considerations should include storage options that come in media types such as CompactFlash Types I, II, Floppy disk, Microdrive, Mini CD-R/RW, SD/MMC, SmartMedia, Memory Stick/Select, Memory Stick Duo, Memory Stick Pro and xD-Picture Card and the Battery that can be model-specific, universal rechargeable and disposable batteries.

As they say, there's always the first time in everything. Usually, this first time serves as a trial and error stage where the most common mistakes are committed. However, given the proper preparation, here are some wedding videography first timers could do:

- Double check what the client or the couples want. Weddings are one of the most exciting chapters of one's life. So most of the couples make sure that they choose a wedding videographer that can meet all their standards. For you to do this, it is a must that you review what are the things discussed during your meeting.

- Go to the wedding venue early. This will give you enough time to do ocular and inform the important participants about the schedule of shoots.

- Have a copy of the wedding itinerary in advance if possible. Since you are about to make a "story" out of the coverage, it will be best if you get a copy of the itinerary beforehand because will really help you to keep in track of the upcoming events.

- Attend the wedding rehearsal. Although this is not a requirement for wedding videography services, since you are going to do it the first time, it will pay that you know what will happen and who are the people that are best subjects aside from the couple.
