Six Tips For Accommodating Out Of Town Wedding Guests

Six Tips for Accommodating Out of Town Wedding Guests

When you are planning a wedding, you have to think about. One big consideration is where your guests might be coming from. If you have a lot of friends and family from out of town that will be attending, where can they stay? Depending on your circumstances, there can be many options. What you need to do first is to decide how many of your guests will be coming from out of town and require a place to stay. Call around to several hotels, motels, and bed and breakfasts to see if they have any discounts for wedding parties who will need to reserve multiple rooms. Once you have gotten all of your RSVPs, see how many people will require accommodations. This way you will know what to expect and to tell your guests.

Depending on how many people that respond and are coming, you might need to make accommodations to where people will be staying. Well, considering you will be out of town on your honeymoon, it may be decent ideas for them to house sit for you, at least for a couple days while they are in town. When you think about it, it is really not always easy leave the town or state for a wedding, let alone perhaps the country. The least you can do is try to make the trip and the stay somewhat accommodating for the out of town guests. If need be, there are generally many hotels and motels that give great group rates when booking multiple rooms. It would be wise, though, to lock these rooms in when you get your RSVPs back. This way, you will insure you have them for when your guests arrive, and not be scrambling to find different rooms elsewhere. This will also keep the guests at close range, rather then having some traveling a bit to get to the ceremony, as if they have not traveled far enough already.

Another possibility could be for some of the out of town guests is stay with some of your local residing guests. This way they will get to know everyone prior to the day, as well as ensure they have a place to go when they get in town. Bed and breakfasts are nice and can be quite quaint; also serving up some meals where in turn will save them some money on food, as well. This is ideal, as those guests from out of town will undoubtedly only need accommodation for a few days maximum. It is not your responsibility for find accommodation for out of town guests, yet it is a nice gesture if you do. It shows them that you really wanted them there in the first place. Travel can easily take its toll on some especially, if they are elderly or have any health conditions that may make travel out of state, or even country stressful. Many times people, whom are invited to a wedding out of town, have a lot to do before just leaving for such an event. Perhaps they have children or pets that may need tending to, as well as the obvious such as time away from work and school. It may not be a bad idea for you to allow some time for the guests that may be coming from great distances. It is possible that there may be some jet lag as time zones are crossed.

As has been stated, this is not your responsibility, and many will be the first to say this directly to you as you have much on your plate already. It would just be a nice gesture as many people will not be familiar to the area where you live, or plan on having the ceremony. If you like, you could have someone such as your parents, or the future in laws stay with you and not have to find accommodation at all. Possibly a small family, even if there are children involved, it might be better for them, rather than they stay in a motel merely capable of lodging a few people. Children fair much better in a home environment and will not have to worry about going out for all the meals, which could become quite costly in the end.
