Country Home Décor Fits Into Homes Of All Sizes

There are so many home decorating styles available with subtle and not-so-subtle differences in each style, but for most people, the style of the home decorating is a personal choice. Regardless of the size and style of the house, many people look to country home décor for nostalgic reasons and, even when looking for primitive designs to match or accent their country home décor, there is no shortage of material. Although primitive implies old and rustic, modern painting techniques and stressed wood can create primitives from new, modern pieces.

There is a lot more to the country home décor style than simply old-looking pieces. Wood may be the primary building material for furniture and other furnishings, but tins in traditional shapes and those that offer memories of years past will also fit easily into almost any country home décor. Nearly everything to do with the outdoors, such as animal designs on plates and plaques will fit into this decorating style and for those who are just learning about country style, there are numerous resources with which to learn about country home decorating.

One of the more popular images often seen in country home décor is the rooster. Pictures on plates, slates and wood plaques often place the rooster in a dominant role in the house, especially in the kitchen. Other traditional farm animals such as swine and cows are also a major part of the country home décor.

Decorating Often Relies On Simplicity

For some homeowners, country home décor requires a bit of skill in making the home look comfortable and well decorated, while maintaining the appearance of being simplistic. Often times, folks will decorate their home with some old wood furniture and then junk up the room with everything they find at garage sales or flea markets that were touted as offering country charm.

Stenciled designs on wood cabinets and other storage units in the home are also part of the country home décor, and with some of the modern homes, it can be difficult to fit them into the room. Most older homes did not have the storage closets built into them and it really was not until the early 1900's that farm houses began to have closets and pantries.

During that time, storage boxes were built for nearly everything and today's country home décor often mimics these boxes that serve only to decorate the interior of the home. Although some may have a purpose in some homes, typically they are used for decorative purposes only.
