Wallpaper Or Paint: A Matter Of Taste

When you're decorating or redecorating your home, consider whether you should go for paint or wallpaper. Wallpaper comes in more diverse patterns than you could accomplish with paint. There are wallpapers with three-dimensional patterns, imitating different kinds of construction material. However, you might feel more comfortable with washable wall paint in a color that fits your personality or preference.

Keep in mind that your choice of paint or wallpaper has to go well with the rest of the things you have (or plan to have) in your home. Consider everything -- from rugs to painting and furniture pieces, even your electronics. Lighting, too, can change the way colors and textures look, so check paint or wallpaper samples in different lighting conditions.

It is also possible to go for a combination of wallpaper and paint -- that is, to cover the walls with wallpaper and use paint for the ceiling. Whatever you choose, take some time to plan and test how it will look.

While there are valid reasons supporting each choice -- wallpaper or paint -- the strongest reason to determine your choice should be your preference. After all, it is your home. The wall decor should satisfy your decorating taste, even if your taste may not fit decorating trends.
