Installing Ceilling Fans

Guide To Installing Ceiling Fans

When you had chosen the ceiling fans of your choice and have bought these just in time prior to an activity you scheduled to do in your house, you are happy with the thought of the additional comfort these would bring to your visitors.

Ceiling fans are known to give a cooling effect on summer times when it is made to turn counter-clockwise; and reversing the motors to go clockwise at a slower speed would give a warmer effect during the winter season. Also known for the decorative effect these ceiling fans bring, these will add more beauty and attractiveness to your homes.

In installing ceiling fans, make sure to read first the manual that goes with these. Manufacturers will specify the details on how to go about the installation process. Specific requirements and installation needs of a particular type of a ceiling fan will always be highlighted by the manufacturer. Special designs of ceiling fans may require some degree of customization during installation.

Check the package if all the necessary parts of the ceiling fans are provided. Refer to the manual for the list of component parts that come with the product. If there should be any part that has not been included or found defective, contact immediately the retailer and inform them of such information. Otherwise, you can move on with the installation of ceiling fans.

It is always advisable turn-off the electrical power before installing ceiling fans. Always have the safety first mentality. You can then start to locate where to place the ceiling fans you purchased. Usually a ceiling fan will be placed in the middle of a room. And it usually takes the place of a lighting fixture. Just make sure that the existing circuit will be able to handle the new load, especially if your ceiling fan comes with lights. If not, you have to provide a separate circuit with fuse for your installation.

When installing ceiling fans, consider having at least a 7' distance between the floor and the fan blades. This is in fact a must for building codes in some states. Also from the ceiling to the fan blades, there should be at least 12" or 18" the better. If you find yourself with limited space, use a low-ceiling mount in installing ceiling fans.

The wirings and other details necessary to carrying out correctly the installation of the ceiling fans you purchased are contained in the manual. Each could vary and one should heed the manufacturers' recommendations. Doing so will most likely not only give you a means of installing ceiling fans safely and easily, but it will also prove to be the most effective way of getting the most out of your fan.
