Bamboo Flooring

Once bamboo is manufactured into flooring, it has the same appeal of what traditional wood flooring has. Like wood, bamboo can be finished with a clear protective coating, or can be stained to provide some color. This is what makes bamboo flooring similar with the standard wood flooring. So what makes it different?

Bamboo flooring is stronger and harder than any other type of wood flooring. Bamboo is actually used as rebar for reinforced concrete beams, because of the fact that it has a tensile strength of 28,000 lbs per square inch compared to 23,000 lbs for steel. There is no more durable wood floor than bamboo. It is a highly sustainable material. Plus there are a lot of ways to keep the bamboo floor and maximize its benefits. Bamboo flooring's flexibility can be manipulated to suit a variety of styles. Since bamboo is less harmful to the environment, they are ideal for corporate offices, retail spaces, hotels, clubs and homes. Because it can last for a long time, many manufacturers of bamboo flooring provide 10 years structurally and 25 years on pre-finishing warranties or even a lifetime guarantee. Homeowners are rapidly accepting bamboo flooring as an alternative to hardwood flooring because of its lower initial cost as compared to hardwood flooring.

Bamboo flooring is an attractive alternative to laminate or other flooring. Bamboo flooring is very easy to maintain and keep clean. Unlike carpet, there is no vacuum required. A simple dust mop is the preferred cleaning tool. Occasionally, you'll want to mop with soap and water. No grout issues. All in all, upkeep and maintenance for bamboo flooring is among the lowest of all the flooring types. Since bamboo naturally thrives in moist areas, it is highly resistant to rot and decay from moisture. It doesn't lose its affinity for moisture once harvested and manufactured into flooring. And bamboo is not only best because of its practicality but also because of its - style and versatility.

Prior to bamboo being used for flooring, its chief uses were furniture, including rattan and bamboo materials such as baskets, chairs and the like. Now, some bamboo manufacturers are also producing solid bamboo flooring, bamboo molding, bamboo veneer, strand woven bamboo flooring, bamboo furniture, bamboo door, bamboo chair and bamboo paneling. The species of bamboo used for flooring is commonly known as 'Moso', and the majority of these products originate in China and other portions of Asia. Imported from the Orients, Bamboo flooring is an exotic material that also has a certain visually, even sexually striking appeal to westerners.

Bamboo flooring offers modern-day sensibility and it simply takes back the appeal for the sense-value for naturalism, highly-missed in this fast-paced world, even neglected. It is only quite recent that Bamboo is acknowledged as an exceptionally eco-friendly product and a highly-renewable source of material. We should have long recognized the greatness of product-materials that are from nature as well as for nature.
