55 Years And Counting - Philips Lighting

The Art Nouveau era was characterized by using precious materials to make basic items. In this era, a simple item such as a kettle was glorified by creating it out of steel with an undulating sprout and brass lid. From its predecessor, the Art Deco era, Art Nouveau took on the philosophy of a traditional European house with a touch of the then contemporary soul. This era became a huge inspiration of Philips lighting. Until today, Philips lighting designs still embrace the Art Nouveau character.

Philips lighting started in 1947 that specialized in the Art Nouveau style and eventually diversified into other styles. The materials used in Philips lighting were in sheens or finishes of old growth woods, bronze, gold, marble, onyx, and opal. Although this gave the impression of a classic design, it served more as a commonplace. This gave a renaissance feel to simple lighting fixtures by creating gold wall sconces with pearl globes and a stone trim. This was the typical kind of lights available at that time.
Modern sophistication and a touch of classic design would normally describe the Philips lighting. Aura chandeliers and ceiling fans like the Islander are just some of the creations of Philips. For 59 years, Philips lighting has been widely used in the modern homes for people who want to add the feel of classic to an otherwise contemporary background.

Just recently, Philips won the much sought-after Gold iF product design award for its Pedestrian LED Luminaire. Philips lighting combines extremely long lifespan and low energy usage with the LED technology. Lifespan of LED bulbs could go up to 50,000 hours, about four times the normal lifespan of an ordinary bulb used in the same situation.
Adding to the success of the Pedestrian LED Luminaire, Philips Lighting also received award for its Crestbay Luminaire, LED Architectural Floodlight, Master Traffic Signaling Lamp, and Savio Range.

In the recent years, Philips had introduced important technology to its lighting by combining cost-effectiveness and efficiency. These are: the Halogena which gives off white light and has three times the lifespan of an ordinary lamp; Ecotone Ambiance that has the same soft light as the Philips softone; MASTERColour CDM that provides dramatic highlighting effects during product displays as well as windows; the range of CLEO tanning lamps; the Carpe Diem can recreate a dynamic daylight ambience; Metronomics outdoor luminaire; the TL5 office lighting system consisting of T5 16mm fluorescent lamp; latest version of the UHP (Ultra High Power) lamp; and the Xenon automotive lamps.
