A Guide For Dining Room Remodel

Wonderful dining rooms can be the heart of holidays, special occasions, and family life. However, most of today's dining areas are becoming unused places as many people are making their kitchen an all-in-one cooking/dining place. This should not be the case in your home. With a few helpful guidelines, the next dining room remodel you do can make the space the home's most fantastic place to savor those scrumptious meals.

Giving and Taking
A quick and easy way to transform the dining room into a more casual and homey place of eating is adding and subtracting some accessories. Adding a mirror on one of its walls can slightly open it up, as well as give things a bit of reflective light.

Another great option for dining room remodel is installing window treatments that are made of lighter and brighter materials. Perhaps remove some overbearing objects to create an uncluttered ambiance. Although you still have to leave a little glamour to the dining room, removing some heavier accessories and putting in several lighter focal points will give the room a less cramped and more welcoming feel.

Round Table Delight
Lots of formal furniture for dining rooms are typically oversized, polished, and have long, pointed edges. While this gives the room a sophisticated touch, it also creates an imposing and harsh tone. Thus, include in the dining room remodel plan, changing the "usual" table into round tabletop.

In contrast to rectangular dining tables, circular tables allow every person to look one in the eye while eating, which makes for an intimate and cozy environment. Additionally, choose less polished wood material to make the furnishings have less of the intimidating feel.

Lighter shade, lighter feeling
Furniture in the dining area that is upholstered and dark can make the place look old-fashioned and gloomy. Choose lighter shades of wood for furniture or fixtures in the dining room -they make a space more relaxed and casual.

You may also want to paint the room's walls with fashionable and light shades of aqua blue, light cocoa, and bright bursts of "tangerine" that can come from accessories.

Informal Fixtures
Lots of dining rooms have fancy fixtures that typically take the form of chandeliers. These fixtures can be expensive and don't actually provide the coziness needed. Thus, skip chandeliers, instead add light sources to the space like lamps or install fixtures on the wall. In whatever case, one doesn't need elaborate fixtures to create a warm feeling and decorative setting.

A successful dining room remodel is making sure that you "mix-it-up". Design and decorate in such a way that the room is a combination of traditional and modern, and not too fancy. After all, it's a place for sharing great dining times with family and not purely for "display".
