Living Room Styles The Make A Difference

When choosing the style for the living room, it is important to remember how the room will be used. For instance, living rooms that are featured with surround sound will need a special style to get the maximum effect of the sound. Whether the living room has this feature or not, it must create a soothing atmosphere that will allow one to enjoy reading a book peacefully, be welcoming to visitors, or do other things in a most comfortable manner. Thus, it is important to pick out the best design among various living room styles.

Basically, there are four common living room styles that one can choose from. This includes contemporary style, country/cottage style, eclectic style, and the traditional style.

Contemporary Styles
These living room styles are typically for people who like the idea of "less-is-more". It's often described as the "sleek and chic" living room styles. These styles lets of the fussy and fringe window treatments, as well as too much ornamentations. Contemporary styles sometime rely on "what's missing" instead of "what it contains".

The pieces of furniture that are fortunate enough to be a part of the spare and modern interior of contemporary living rooms will have "clean, straight lines" and modern finishes, such as brushed aluminum, as well as luxurious fabrics like suede and silk.

Color palettes can be anywhere from bright hues, neutrals, and all-white paired with materials that are natural. Never underestimate what a natural light can do to the style -the highlights and rays that cast shadows provide a "Zen-like" experience.

Country/Cottage Styles
The country or cottage living room styles provide a comfortable and colorful character to the place. It is typically characterized by decorated or painted furniture that has textural elements and graceful lines, such as natural fiber rugs, baskets, weathered finishes, beadboard, as well as colors that are taken directly from the hues of lush flower gardens.

Eclectic Style
The eclectic style consists of an assortment of styles and periods, and is blended together through using texture, color, finish, and shape. Furniture takes into account the finish, material, and the lines of different pieces used. The palette may vary, but it sticks with few neutrals to help tie every element together.

Traditional Style
The traditional style can feature "traditional furnishings" that can come from French countryside, 18th century England, or even exotic East. Windows often have a tailored look with a combination of formal swag and panel. Colors are often the tones of green and peach that are balanced with tan and aubergine for a touch of floral but simple palette.

Whatever the type of living room styles chosen, it must be designed to be a place of comfort and relaxation, as well as be favorable to mingling with visitors.
