Corrugated Roofing

Corrugated Roofing

A roof is perhaps one of the topmost considerations in building a house. The roof protects the entire building from rain, snow, strong winds and scorching heat of sunlight. Roofs can be made of anything, metal (aluminum, cooper, zinc, tin, galvanized iron), and clay or ceramic (tile, slate or shingle). Some roofs are even made of rubber. The type of roofing materials you want to cover and protect your house depends on your taste, suitability on the house structure and budget.

Corrugated roofing material is as widely used as the other materials available in the market. This material has a wavelike sort of design, which is both aesthetic and functional. Some corrugated roofing materials are made of metal others are polycarbonate. Corrugated roof is usually used for steep slope roof. It could be paint-coated with different colors and treated with metal preserving chemicals to make it more durable and resistant from corrosive substances.

The polycarbonate corrugated roof is made of the same material that fiberglass is made of. This material can provide natural lighting during the day because it is translucent, thus you can save energy. It is waterproof too. The metal corrugated roof is mostly made of galvanized iron or aluminum. This makes it prone to corrosion. However, some materials are highly corrosion resistant. Fiberglass and metal corrugated roofing materials are both lightweight and thin, which makes them disadvantageous because they can be torn off easily by strong winds. During heavy rains this roofing material becomes noisy as droplets of rain touch the roof's surface.

When buying this type of roofing material, careful planning must be taken into account. The materials are supplied in different lengths; so careful measurement and identification of the number of sheets needed must be done so that unnecessary cutting is avoided. Installing the material is relatively manageable, since the material is a long sheet of metal, attaching them to the wood frame or purlin will be very easy. When installation is done, inspect for presence of holes or punctures from nails and seal them right away to get rid of possible leaks. This material is easy to maintain since this is used for siding roofs, build up of snow, dirt and pooling is impossible.

Corrugated roof is affordable and easy to avail in the market. This gives the same protection to your house without the extra cost. Reroofing is also manageable because this material is easy to detach from the wood frame. It gives you very good weatherproofing all-year round. Corrugated roofing is an alternative choice that never runs out of style.
