Water Treatment

Water Treatment Technology

Since the time when water treatment technology was first introduced, it has gone a long way. The simple technology of distilling, boiling and chlorinating water has improved over time. Today, there are more advanced procedures in treating water.

Water filter.

Walter filtration is also one old water treatment technology but today the process is more danced as compared to the used of linen or a piece of cloth in filtering water. Water filter comes in different shapes and sizes according to their use. The first kind of water filter is the foam filter that is connected to the nozzle of the faucet. This filter is capable only of filtering chunks of particles that measures about 25 micrometer. It also filters excess chlorine content in the water.

Other type of filter is the cartridge type wherein a housing needed which contains mineral stones that can help in water filtration. This kind of filter can eliminate particle that measures more than 25 microns but not more than 50 microns. There are also filters that use filter but limited only in removing nitrates and fluoride. The dangerous lead is also removed from the water using resins.

The disadvantage of using filter is that it is prone to accumulation of dirt and mildew, which may also contains pathogens ands other water-borne microorganisms. It is not sure however, that the filtered water is free from pathogens even if the foam is clean.

Deionization

This water treatment technology is widely used in industrial places like laboratories of manufacturing plants. The technology works with the use of resins presenting both side of deionization—the cations and the anions. Just like the water ph neutralizer dynamics, the deionization process works in a similar way. The cations act as water softener as water passes through the filter, while the opposite is likely to happen with anions. The bottom line is that the process work by exchanging positive and negative ions present in the water.

Reverse osmosis

The latest addition to the family of drinking water treatment technology is the reverse osmosis. This technology work in a rather more complicated way, however it is a much safer process of treating water and obtaining a clean one. The concept of Reverse osmosis by getting the cleaned water only, and discharge the byproducts which makes it more costly because a lot of water will be wasted, nevertheless the assurance of having a safe drinking water is guaranteed. There are equipment that can handle reverse osmosis on residential and commercial level.

Water treatment technology is still improving. Wastewater treatment technology has its own types, which makes sure that discharged water from factories is safe.
