What Does That Email Mean? How To Write A Clear, Concise Marketing Email Message

When you are preparing your email for your Internet business, it is important that your recipients will want to read your information instead of delete it on site. What are the methods that you can use to assure that your readers will be interested in your content? To begin with, it is important to write a gripping (and truthful) subject line. As with all email, the first obstacle is to write a subject line that says, "Must open." Great subject lines announce the content of the message and promise a product, service, or outcome of real value. Many email messages for Internet Marketing have the words "free" or "discount" in the subject line and it would seem that those words would be a prerequisite however, after the first dozen or more free offers, the recipient is guarded and wants something more. Consider a subject line like "Advertising: Discover Why the Future of your Company Depends Upon it." This subject line instantly announces its subject, - advertising - and tells what the company will learn, and hints at what will happen if they do not learn it. They will read that message, for free or at full price.

Deliver an obvious message up front. Your recipients are busy and they do not have time to figure out what you are offering. They are impatient, in addition, they do not want a tease, a clever story leading up to the main point. Be direct and concise. Begin with a clear announcement of what you are offering. Consider this effective opening that is concise and to the point, it grabs your reader with a question then offers a solution: "Are you searching for a distinctive, reasonably priced, and effective way to market your business or website? Consider Postcards!" Many email sales messages open with a drawn out reminder to the reader that they have opted in to the mailing and detailed instructions on how to opt out. This message is an important consideration, but it wastes space, the first screen. You must give the reader this "opt in" information, but put it at the end of your message.



Deliver one message at a time as enthusiastic as you may be do not overwhelm your recipients by sending them a convoluted message. When you have gone to great lengths to compile a highly targeted email-marketing list you may be enticed really to get your money's worth by using the list to tell all prospective customers about everything you do, this is a huge mistake. Email readers have short attention spans long enough to absorb one message, no more. The best approach for delivering multiple email sales messages is to write a separate message for each thing you are trying to sell. If you do have a great deal to tell your readers, and would like to communicate with them on a regular basis, consider an email newsletter, this is a better format for multiple messages. Provide something of value in return for opening and reading your communication, give readers useful information or an exceptional offer, and perhaps something free or discounted. Look at this example of and email sales message that effectively matches the promise of valuable information with a free offer: "Does your Web site have the protection you need to accomplish business online? To learn what is powering safety on all the leading Web sites, ask for your FREE copy of 'Securing Your Web Site for Business' from VeriSign."

Show readers how they will benefit from what you have to offer. It is not enough just to tell readers about what you offer. Let them know how your product, service, or offer will benefit them. Include a call to action in your message. Your convincing subject line and customer-oriented lead do the trick they have read your message. You have offered insider information and showed readers how your product or service will benefit them. Now go the distance and tell your readers exactly what you want them to do. Do not simply tell them to check out your site. Tell them what action to take. Invite them to sign up for your free newsletter, enter a raffle, and buy your product. In conclusion, remember the importance of brevity in e-mail sales letters.
