Kanban Seminar On Web Conferencing

Kanban Seminar On Web Conferencing

A concept related to Just in Time (JIT) production, Kanban is the Japanese word that literally translates to “sign” or “instruction card.” As such, Kanban is actually a signaling system as its name suggests.

What is a Kanban Seminar?

In a Kanban seminar, cards are used to signal the need for an item. Besides cards, other devices, such as plastic markers (Kanban squares) or balls (often golf balls) can also be used in Kanban seminars in order to trigger the movement, production, or supply of a unit in a factory.

As an example, let’s say that in the production of a widget, the operator has two shelves, one on either side of the workplace. On one shelf, the raw materials are placed and as the article is finished, it would then be placed on the other shelf. These shelves actually act as Kanbans.

The outgoing Kanban signals the customer’s need so that when the shelf is empty, the operator will realize the need to produce more widgets.

In a Kanban seminar, the Kanban is sized so that it can only hold as many finished articles as the customer needs. However, usually the customer only needs one. When the operator begins work, he takes the raw material from the incoming Kanban, thus signaling to the supplier that he needs more.

Therefore, the essence of a Kanban seminar is signals. An act is viewed as not just an act but something to provoke another such act.

Kanban Seminar and Web Conferencing

The signaling system in a Kanban seminar made it seem a natural addition to enhance the efficacy of web conferencing. Kanban seminars are especially used when explaining the mechanics of web conferencing to business executives who are venturing into the conferencing market.

A great Kanban seminar on web conferencing experience will prepare any team to design, implement, and maintain a Kanban system that meets the needs of the team’s specific web conferencing environment. In actual operation, no two Kanban systems on web conferencing are the same. Even though they operate on the same basic principles, each Kanban system for web conferencing must be tailored to fit the specific environment that it is intended to serve. Hence, when designing and implementing a Kanban seminar on web conferencing, it is important to include the following:

* Introduction to the Kanban Seminar on web conferencing
* Heijunka
* Kanban cards, their function, flow, and administration
* Kanban formulas
* Kanban containers
* Triggering mechanisms
* Kanban prerequisites
* Kanban candidate selection
* Pilot implementation
* Plant-wide implementation
* Supply base implementation
* Flexible work cell staffing calculation
