LSAT Registration Guidelines

The Law School Admission Test or LSAT is being administered four times every year and it is important that you register early if you are planning to take the test. All information you need about the LSAT registration and upcoming examination dates are listed on the website of the Law School Admission Council (LSAC). The LSAT registration is available every Mondays and Wednesdays for people who observe the Sabbath every Saturdays while late LSAT registration can only be made through phone or online.

The most convenient way to register for the LSAT is online. However, you can also find LSAT registration booklets at selected distribution areas like Kaplan centers, law schools and other pre-law schools and offices. To know the nearest distribution point in your area you can call the Law School Data Assembly Services (LSDAS). You can also send your LSAT registration to them through regular mail.

After your LSAT registration, the LSDAS or better known as Law Services prepares and presents a report to law schools that you will enter. The report has all the information needed by law schools.

The report includes the following:

- Academic summary (undergraduate)
- Undergraduate and graduate transcript of records
- Law school and professional transcript of records
- LSAT scores
- Writing sample copies
- Law school letter of recommendation

The LSAT registration fee costs $118. For late registration, there is an additional fee of $60. Your Law School Data Assembly Services period is good for five years from your LSAT registration date. Your LSAT registration also includes a recommendation letter, processing of your transcript and computerized application for all American Bar Association (ABA) approved law schools.

Prepared law school reports can be purchased for $12 a piece and you can get it before or after your LSAT registration. You do not need to subscribe to the Law Services for your LSAT registration but you need to subscribe as early as possible before the deadline of your first application in law school. Registration can be done either by phone or online.

Most applicants register at the test sites so it is advised that you register immediately to get your preferred site. If you want to know which sites are the most suitable for you, you can look for this information from LSAT prep web sites or ask previous LSAT takers for advice. Ideally, you want a test site that is quiet, provides ample desk space and comfortable seating, and has available food stores and clean restrooms. Take the time to find out this information to make sure that you are comfortable during the test.
