Cymbidium Orchid Plant Is Beautiful And Delicate

You will have to go way back in time to find the first mention of the Cymbidium Orchid plant. Yes, as far back as the year 265 AD and during the reign of the Chin Dynasty in China the name of the Cymbidium Orchid plant was first mentioned and in glowing terms as well one might add. If you look at the Cymbidium Orchid plant today you will still find that these amazing plants are very beautiful to look at and that they are also very delicate and you see them being used in virtually every different kind of corsage.

Range Of Colors

The range of colors of the Cymbidium Orchid plant is wide and includes reds and yellows and even whites and more. Typically, the flower of the Cymbidium Orchid plant grows to a pretty large size – about five inches or more and even after being cut the flowers retain their looks for another 5 to 7 weeks. Of course, not every Cymbidium Orchid plant type sprouts large sized flowers because there are many (such as the Royale Cymbidium) that sprout flowers of an intermediate size.

The best place to grow the Cymbidium Orchid plant is in the outdoors and they can even survive a mild freezing climate for short periods and will still grow during the cold winter months as long as temperatures do not fall below twenty-eight degrees Fahrenheit.

The months between February and May are ideal for the blooming of the Cymbidium Orchid plant while in the hotter months they require to have cool soil, especially during the nighttime. If your city is located where temperatures are very high you might want to add some ice to the soil once the sun goes down, especially in the month of August.

To ensure proper growth of the Cymbidium Orchid plant you need to water these plants well and especially during the months between March and September after which there is not so much need to provide a lot of water to the plants. Other important aspects to growing the Cymbidium Orchid plant include giving them plenty of light and sufficient amounts of fertilizer.

The white Cymbidium Orchid has been a treasured plant for many centuries and by many different societies. In fact, over the last two thousand years, these plants have been carefully cultivated to ensure that the plant always remains a favorite among people – even in spite of the fact that such a Cymbidium Orchid is not one that is big in size as is the case with most other Cymbidium Orchids.
