Taking Care Of Your Pink Dendrobium Orchid

Pink Dendrobium orchids are among the most beautifully colored orchids. Many Dendrobium orchid species are pink, and they’re very popular at parties and other social events. They’re also a popular choice for people looking to brighten up their home and bring some elegance to them. Of course, like all plants, pink dendrobium orchids require a lot of special care and attention if they are to remain beautiful and healthy! Some will even refuse to flower if they’re not cared for properly.

How To Keep Them Healthy

Now, before you even buy a pink Dendrobium orchid, you need to make sure you are actually willing to do everything you have to in order to properly care for them. It takes more than putting them in a pot and watering them occasionally!

The first thing you need to do is figure out exactly how much your pink dendrobium orchid needs to be watered. As there are different species of pink dendrobium orchid, it can vary, although there are a few broad guidelines that you can follow. First, under no circumstances should you water them daily. That will drown the pink dendrobium orchid and kill its roots faster than anything else. Most orchids need to be watered only once every 5 to 12 days, or roughly once a week. Remember though that some pink dendrobium orchids need a little bit of time for the soil to dry out before another watering.

Temperature and humidity are also important. These plants like things hot during the day! That means they need an temperature somewhere between 75 and 85 degrees F. At night the temperature should be lowered to 60-65 degrees. And they also need a certain humidity to really thrive – some species need humidity between 50% and 75%! If you find you’re struggling with maintaining a certain humidity, don’t feel bad – it’s very hard to do, and most people just buy humidifiers to place near the plant so it grows. There’s another trick that involves placing the pot the pink dendrobium orchid is in over a plate with rocks and water on it that you can use as well if you don’t want to buy a humidifier.

And yet another complicated aspect of pink dendrobium orchid care is how much light it really needs. The majority of them like almost a “cycle” of light. That means lots of sun in the early morning hours, then shading between 11am and 3pm, and a little bit of sun in the late afternoon.

It sounds very complicated, and while growing orchids does require work, the beautiful healthy pink dendrobium orchid you end up with is more than worth it!
