There are various pieces of equipment that are important in an irrigation system, but few are more important than the lawn irrigation controller. The lawn irrigation controller is the piece of equipment which is going to control the amount of water that is dispersed, which is obviously very important because this ensures that your grass not be under or overwatered.

Pipes of course are one of the most important parts of all, just as with the lawn irrigation controller. The pipes are what is used to make up the actual piping that goes underground in the lawn and which the water flows through.
The piping begins at the water source of the home, and then goes all the way through the ground, leading up to several different strategically placed sprinklers which come just a bit out of the top of the ground to water the grass.
There a few different types of irrigation pipe that are commonly used, including sewer pipe, drainage pipe, poly pipe, PVC pipe, Blu-Lock swing pipe, and swing/funny pipe which is generally used in tricky areas of a lawn, for instance where there are turns and curves.
The actual sprinklers are another very important parts of an irrigation system as well. This is the equipment that is used to water the lawn, and again there are a few different choices here. This includes rotors, spray heads, spray nozzles, impact sprinklers, superstand sprinklers, and rotary sprinkler nozzles to name a few.
There are also fittings, which are used to connect the pipes, and there are PVC fittings, poly fittings, galvanized fittings, corrugated pipe fittings, sewer pipe fittings, nipples, and swing joint assemblies.
The irrigation industry is one that is quite complicated and unless you have the proper experience and knowledge here then you are not going to want to attempt it yourself. It is much more worth it to spend the money initially and get it done right by a qualified company, and have a complete, fully running irrigation system.
Make sure you ask the company you are considering lots of questions however before agreeing to let them do it, for instance you may want to ask which type of lawn irrigation controller and other parts they are using, to make sure that they are only using the highest quality parts possible.
