Indoor Plant Care: Keep Your Plants Alive And Healthy

Understanding everything that you can about indoor plant care is really going to be to your benefit if you have plants indoors that you need to care for. Indoor plant growing is much more difficult than growing outdoors because the plants are not going to be getting as much sunlight, and watering is going to be all on you.

Whereas in the outdoors your plants would basically be taken care of by Mother Nature, when they are inside it is your responsibility and so it is going to be up to you if you want them to stay alive and thrive.

Now although there are lots of different things that you could learn about indoor plant care, there are a few tips in particular on indoor plant care that you are going to want to be aware of and which will be discussed here in more detail.

Watering

Of course watering is vital to any plant’s growth, but instead of only worrying about under watering a plant, you need to make sure that you are just as concerned about over watering a plant. Over watering can be just as unsafe for a plant as under watering because you will drown the roots and the plant will wither and die.

To make sure that you are performing proper indoor plant care, you always need to feel the soil with your hand before watering. If it is still a bit damp from the last watering you can wait a day or two and then water. You basically want to wait until the soil feels a bit crumbly and then give it some water.

Sunlight

The other most vital factor for a plant’s life is sunlight. When you have a plant indoors they are not able to receive all of the sunlight throughout the day, and even if you have them hanging in a window where the sun shines in, some of the sunlight is blocked by the window pane so they are still not going to be getting the same amount of sunlight that they would if they were outdoors.

To make sure that your plant gets enough sunlight, first you should research the specific type of plant that you have so that you can give them the indoor plant care that they need. This is important because each plant reacts a different way to sunlight and will need a different amount on a regular basis.
