Reshaping Your Arms with Arm Liposuction
If you are working out your arms but are not achieving the exact form you want, a good option for you is an arm liposuction. An arm liposuction will remove any fat deposits in your arm that you cannot shed through exercise and give your arms better shape.
Arm liposuction is a short surgical procedure done by first cutting small openings near the elbows to allow thin tubes to be slipped under the skin and through the deposits of fat.
These thin tubes or cannulas are used by the surgeon to disintegrate fat and suction it out of your arms. Because the cannulas are very narrow, the cuts made are also very small and therefore, scarring is minimized.
If you have healthy and supple skin, you can expect ideal results as your skin will easily contract once surgery is done. On the other hand, if your skin lacks elasticity your arm will likely have some loose skin hanging and you may need to have an arm lift to fix this.
Other areas near the arm particularly those connecting the arm with the chest often accumulate pockets of fat, which can be unsightly when you're wearing a sleeveless shirt. These areas can also be treated along with arm liposuction.
After arm liposuction, your arms will be sore, swollen or numb for a few days. Your surgeon may prescribe medication to relieve these side-effects and an antibiotic to prevent the risk of infection. Within 7 to 10 days, your surgeon will remove the stitches or if the stitches are self-dissolving, you can expect it to be gone within the same period.
If you work in an office, you will also be able to return within a week following your arm liposuction surgery.
Your doctor will give you instructions on care after surgery. This may include wrapping your arm with a tight elastic band for compression to manage swelling and to support your arms as it continues to heal and form its shape.
Arm liposuction will remove the fat cells in your arms permanently and you will not develop new fat cells in this area. However, you may still accumulate fat in surrounding areas of your arms or other parts of your body.
While arm liposuction can be performed to eliminate as much unwanted fat in the arms as possible, its primary purpose is to re-sculpt the arm's contour. So in women patients, the surgeon may remove only enough volume of fat to give the arms a lean but still feminine appearance. In this regard, be sure to discuss with your arm liposuction surgeon the results you want to achieve.
