Neck Liposuction

Neck liposuction – Liposuction and Aging

Now and again, the aging process stands in way of the ‘looking good-feeling young' precept. Fortunately, the face and neck liposuction came forward and became a key answer to the old age dilemma. Aside from neck liposuction, laser resurfacing and chemical dermabrasion could be an additional method used to improve loose flabby old-looking skin.

Younger women have the benefit over the face and neck liposuction since it has avoided most complications from surgery, have a lower cost in comparison to other techniques, has fast recovery time span, and has even given a more promising natural look than facelift, even without necessary surgery additions.

Older women though, face the predicament since face and neck liposuction affect wrinkled skin differently. Women, whose ages reach from the forties up, start to have more wrinkles appearing not only on their faces but on the other parts of their bodies as well. The neck area is generally susceptible to the loss of a young toned looking skin surface. It is the goal of neck liposuction then, to reduce the appearance of crumply folded old looking skin on the neck. Also frequently, age defying procedures performed on the face compromises the neck section. As facelift stretches the skin on the face for a smoother consistency and a younger impression, the skin becomes clustered and concentrated on the neck area as a consequence. Consequently, neck liposuction still then becomes necessary although a patient may choose the facelift procedure to operate on her face instead.

Because of aging, horizontal and vertical folds start to appear on the surface of the skin with subcutaneous fats developing on the neck as well. Neck liposuction especially deals with the more prominent vertical folds formed in front of the neck called platysma bands. The platysma bands do not consist only of loose skin, but also superficial muscles and fats. Neck liposuction, specifically the tumescent liposuction method, does not eliminate the platysma bands totally, yet it improves its appearance by tightening the skin and muscles around the neck through the removal of excess fats and then suturing. The surgery process includes the use of anesthesia, locally applied to the neck section, and then making small incisions just below the patient's skin for liposuction.

Unlike liposuctions on the facial portions such as on jowls, cheeks, and chin though, neck liposuction requires the use of sutures to the skin and muscles of the neck at the time of the surgery. This shall do with the more tightened appearance of the patient's neck. Doing this intentionally especially eliminates performing additional skin surgeries after the liposuction.
