The Interview Using Body Language Magic

Movements and Body Language Explained

The big day is moving closer. You are ready for the interview. You have already prepared for the meeting, and now all you have to do is figure out how to stay calm, cool and collected at the interview. We all have been there so you are not alone.

One of the biggest challenges anyone will make is getting past an interview while focusing on the job. Some people go in a room unprepared which is the worst thing anyone of us could do, yet many of us do it. How can we use our body and words to make the meeting flow smoothly?

Life is difficult enough without us having to worry about an interview. Therefore, gear up those receptors and make that brain work by building confidence before you arrive. If you know you can handle the position why not use it to your advantage and let the interviewer know what you can do.

Some people believe that if you lie to the interviewer they will not know, and you will get the job. This is not always true, although it does happen a lot. The fact is you need to be honest. Honesty will get you everywhere regardless of how it appears at the time you are honest. To show that you are sincere, honest, confidence, interested, open and relaxed you want to key in on a few tips. If you walk into the building make sure you walk briskly with your posture aligned straight. Be sure to enter the room with a friendly greeting by looking the interviewer in the eyes, and shaking his or her hand while informally introducing your self.

As you sit make sure the legs are slightly apart, and leave your palms open. Tilt you head from time to time during the meeting to let the interviewer know that you are interested in his or her conversation.

You want to avoid showing aggression while standing by keeping the hands dangling or folded in the front. If you stand with your hands on the hip the interviewer may interpret this sign as an aggressive signal or readiness. Still, it could work to your advantage, yet you want to avoid this gesture anyway. Some people place their hands on the hips for a resting zone.

Avoid crossing your legs as you sit and kicking the feet slightly in repetition. This could send a message that you are bored. Again, sit with the legs slightly apart and avoid placing the arms over the chest area, since it could lead the interviewer in believing that you are on the defense.

Avoid walking in the room with your hands in the pockets and the shoulders slouching, since it may interpret sadness. You want to put your hand to your cheek when you need to think hard about the question or evaluate the question to provide an answer.

Avoid rubbing and touching the nose slightly, since the interviewer may believe that you are lying, doubting or rejecting the conversation. It depends on your persona, as to how the interviewer will interpret this, especially if the person is looking at body language.

Avoid using the hand to rub the eyes, and sit with the hands clamped behind the head while crossing the legs if you feel confident. Be careful by monitoring the conversation and how the other person relates to you before acting in this way, because you don't want to show too much superiority.

While at the interview always keep your eyes in contact with the interviewer's eyes while occasionally looking away without looking down at the floor. Go get em tiger!
