If you constantly find yourself burning the midnight candle, you may have problems with time management. You should take action towards correcting your current situation and make efforts to improve it. You should learn to plan well and most importantly, learn to manage your time well.

It is a fact that time is only limited to those who want to do lots of things. With time management, you will know how to prioritize and do the most important things first. You should also perhaps give up on some activities that will not serve your goals. Focus your energies to finish those that you consider to be priorities for you - whether it be regarding work, study or personal aspects of your life.

You will be on schedule with most of your activities, and you will be able to find time to put off tasks and still finish on time. And when it will be time for bed, you will be much attuned to sleeping & taking well-deserved good rest.

But even if you are in a situation wherein everything seems to be going bad - and you are not in control even in a little way, you should still leave your anxieties behind - and really find time to be rested. You will surely need the energy for the next day.

2. Don't go to sleep if you are hungry.

It is never a good idea to sleep your hunger away - because most likely, you will not be able to sleep anyway - or if you'll be able to, you will still be awakened by the hunger pangs you feel.

It is advisable that you had sufficient food during dinner so that you will not go hungry after a few hours. Or you may want to have light snacks as cookies or crackers that are known to increase serotonin. Serotonin is a brain chemical that is believed to produce deeper sleep.

One should however avoid heavy meals as this may cause indigestion. This will disturb one's sleep and will keep one awake with an uncomfortable feeling. Keep your meals light at nighttime and preferably 3 to 4 hours before bedtime.

3. You bed should only be for sleeping - and oh yes, sex of course.

You should have a bedroom wherein the aura is one that is conducive for sleeping. One should not bring in work, as it will ruin the whole relaxing and peaceful ambiance of a bedroom. Your bedroom and your bed for that matter should be used for the purpose it was designed and built - for sleeping. And for a better sex life, your bed should not have traces of work related papers - as this will take you out of the mood of having great sex with your partner. Either in sleep or in sex, you shouldn't allow for distractions. These are times for peacefulness and relaxation - which you surely lacked during the rigors of daytime.

4. Avoid drinking too much fluids, even water when you are about to sleep.

One should not be consuming too much fluids just right before bedtime. This will disturb your sleeping, as you will most likely have to go frequently to the toilet to urinate. A full bladder will definitely interfere with your sleep - and surely this will affect the quality of your rest.

Frequently getting up and going to the bathroom will be a hassle, and you wouldn't want this to be happening while you want that good night's sleep.

There is nothing that beats a nice massage to take the stress out that have accumulated throughout the day. It will relieve tension and clears up one's mind so that one will be conditioned to sleeping. Blood circulation will improve which gives the relaxing effect for massages given.

It is indeed tempting to check the email before going to bed, and yet this may not be good for you. Having just read any issue related to work, or even that of personal matters will keep you thinking. These may make you worry and will affect your mood for sleeping.

It is best to resist temptation of checking emails during bedtime. If you should do so, be sure you are one who can handle it well - being able to switch gears easily to that of sleeping mode.

7. Pray.

What better way to calm you down and forget all your worries than by praying. When you pray, you are tapping on the source of all good things - a Divine Being - who can give us peace and rest. The burdens we carry in our daily living will not be as heavy as it previously seemed. Putting our hands together and kneeling before the Almighty will surely re-energize us and make us ready for what tomorrow brings. One will be confident and assured of the fact, that the future will be better with the blessing expected from prayer.

With these, prayer will calm our minds and will result to less worries. Thus, sleeping will no longer be a problem - and in waking up, we are certain of a body well-rested, healed and recovered.
