Tips In Keeping A Dream Journal

Tips In Keeping A Dream Journal

A dream journal is pretty much a journal containing highlights of one's dreams, as its name already explains it all. They are useful items, keeping track of the dreams that come to dreamers and are oftentimes used in a dreamer's effort to take control of his/her dreams, as well as for analysis purposes.

Here are some useful tips in successfully making a dream journal.

With one notebook meant for rough details, and another notebook, which would then contain the finalized cleaned up dream details, using two notebooks in building one's dream journal isn't such a bad idea.

The "initial dream journal" should be ideally within an arms reach from one's bed, as a dreamer would take down notes regarding one's dreams when one wakes up. They are useful when it comes to not fully defining one's journal, which is something one wouldn't want to do when waking up in the middle of the night. During the "waking hours", the items written down on the rough detail notebook could then be put into further detail in the final dream journal notebook.

When it comes to writing down dream details in a dream journal, dreamers should take the time to review their dreams before writing them down. This would lead to a more fluid, and more detailed recall factor would help in one's dream journal writing excursion.

Remembering a dream could be quite taxing, and frustrating, especially if a dream journal is concerned in the matter. If a dreamer has a hard time remembering how a dream started, tracing it backwards actually helps. The point of this is to establish a point in the dream, then letting the memory follow the started process, eventually defining where the dream leads to, or how it even began.

When it comes to writing down remembered dream sequences in a dream journal, a dreamer must keep in mind the specific date, and if possible the time, too. This would provide dreamers a "catalogued" dream journal, stating the specifics of one's dreams at night. The act of recording the date and time would also aid dream analysts, who actually require their clients to keep a dream journal handy.

All in all, dream journals could pose as an essential item for making out one's way of thinking. They are great aids in developing self awareness, detailing how our emotions and behaviors affect our dreams, given that our dreams say something of our unconscious mind.
