Seasoning Utensils Helps Prevent Food And Moisture Build-Up

On the face of it, when you check the utensils that you use for cooking; you will not be able to find much wrong with the utensils. However, if you were to check the same utensils under a microscope you would soon come to realize that there are quite a few things wrong with the utensils, including their being pitted. The pitted areas cause food to be trapped in them and this can endanger your health. One solution that will help in getting rid of pitted areas in your utensils is seasoning the utensils.

Add To The Life Of The Utensils

When you go about seasoning your cooking utensils, you can be sure of preventing further build-up of food in the utensils, and in addition, seasoning also helps in facilitating easier cleaning of the utensils and therefore adds to the life of the utensils. Of course, you will have to do the seasoning of the utensils according to type of utensil being used.

Metallic cookware requires its own kind of seasoning which in turn means washing the cookware in water (soapy) to ensure that most residual foods and grime gets cleaned away. Once the cookware has been washed it must then be allowed to dry and be cleaned with a towel (clean, of course) and then the cookware needs to be placed on a hot plate at temperatures that range from two hundred and fifty to three hundred degrees Celsius.

You can now take the utensil off the hot plate and apply to it some cooking oil or even some fat. You need to have first dipped the oil or fat into a cloth towel and then applied the oil or fat to the utensil after which you need to heat the utensil some more for about 2 or 3 hours. Next, you should wipe the fat away from the utensil and wash it again in soapy water and allow the utensils to dry up completely. This all there is to seasoning the utensils and once they are fully dry, these utensils will be free of moisture and food build-up.

By seasoning cooking utensils that are made out of aluminum and cast-iron as well as those made from steel you will prevent further damage to the utensils – especially damage caused by rust and moisture – and you can also prevent the utensils from giving off metallic taste in your food.

Some people use organic herbs and the main reason for such preference is that these people are sure that will get many health benefits including not consuming dangerous chemicals and other artificial substances.

Seasoning wooden utensils is also recommended as it will help in preventing the utensils from warping, cracking and drying up. All it takes is to understand how seasoning of different types of utensils is done and then you need to only follow the instructions that will help to ensure that your utensils last longer and also ensure that you can cook better quality of food as well.
