Things You Need For Your New Baby
Congratulations! You are having a baby. This is one of the most exciting times of your life, but chances are you are still nervous about everything you need for the new baby. After getting that positive pregnancy test, your mind might start creating a baby supplies list, and every day you might be going through that baby supplies checklist and wondering what you have left to purchase. Here are some things that you will need to have on your baby supplies list.
The Basics
It is true that many new moms find themselves stressing out over their baby supplies list. There are many things out there marketed to new moms that you will never, ever need for your baby! In addition, there are some items on new mom's baby supplies list that you will not need for many months. Take, for example, a high chair. Your baby will not be able to sit in a high chair until he or she is at least four to six months old, and you will not even need it until the baby is ready to eat solids at six months old. So if that is on your baby supplies list, please remove it! Instead, start thinking about the basics that are important to have when you come home from the hospital.
The very first thing that needs to be on your baby supplies list is a car seat. You should never buy a used car seat because you do not know what has happened to is. In addition, make sure to check the expiration date on the car seat. Many people do not realize that car seats expire, but they do after about six years due to the plastic being compromised. Always remember that your baby will need to be rear-facing until he or she is at least one year and twenty five pounds, but it is always preferable to keep him or her rear-facing as long as possible.
The two other important things that you will need to put on your baby supplies list are diapers and sleeping arrangements. You need to decide whether or not you are going to cloth diaper or use disposable diapers. Once you decide, start building up a stash and let others know what diapers you are going with so that they can help you build your stash. You will also need to think about sleeping arrangements. If you do not want your baby to sleep with you, you need to add a crib to your list. If you do want your baby in your bed, then you need to start researching and learning proper co-sleeping methods.
