Daycare: Helping Shape The World

For working moms, juggling career and motherhood can sometimes be tough especially if there is a baby around. Why? Taking care of a baby or children below the age of five involves more than just regular feeding and diaper changing. Proper care and closer attention are needed for kids at pre-school age, when crucial child development process takes place. It appears too bad for the baby if mommy wouldn't be around. Good thing though that there is a group of child rearing people, who can professionally fill in for mommy and they can be found at the daycare centers.

Daycare is almost synonymous to babysitting. It technically refers to daytime babysitting or child caring by someone outside the family circle of the child usually trained to professionally render the service. Working moms who can't get a personal nanny at home usually go to a daycare where maximum supervision and care can be rendered for their beloved babies or toddlers while they are away. In countries like the United Kingdom and Australia, the term childcare is used to refer to a daycare where toys, playmates, and trained child-friendly personnel called childminders can be found giving every parent the needed peace of mind while being at work and away with their kids.

History
Europe was the first to spawn daycare during the late 1800s. Charitable institutions in France first organized daycares to take care of children of mothers who have to work for a living. A daycare was then called a nursery, infant school, or crèche. The first government recognized daycare was the Societe des Creches built in 1869 in France.

Today, daycares are almost everywhere in the world. With the fast-paced and economically challenging world we have today, a daycare is surely a must in every society. It helps families earn money for their needs without having to neglect the needs of their children in formative years.

Better
Studies reveal that kids who were entrusted to a daycare during their formative years reportedly perform better than those who were just left in the house with a nanny. Daycares today are formally designed that educational and personal development programs are also being served to the kids at their post. The social interaction every kid experience at a daycare as well as the nurturing attention of childminders also helps in the total development of a child.

So without mommy around, there is a daycare to thank for to look after a child's holistic development to make him or her ready for the world in the future.
